I am so excited for this new easy to use and cost-effective curriculum for teaching music appreciation! I don’t think teaching music appreciation has ever been easier! No expensive curriculum to buy! Use for multiple levels! No planning needed! When I saw this new program I KNEW that I had to share it with you!
I love music and I want my kids to appreciate beautiful music too. I want them to understand why and how rich and vibrant music of all kinds can be as well as the history behind it. I want them to not only love music but to understand it in a way that will give them another outlet to express themselves. Did you know that students who were exposed to music-based lessons scored a full 100% higher on fractions tests than those who learned in the conventional manner?* Did you know high school music students have been shown to hold higher grade point averages (GPA) than non-musicians in the same school?* And how about this one?
The College Entrance Examination Board found that students in music appreciation scored 63 points higher on verbal and 44 points higher on math than students with no arts participation?-College-Bound Seniors National Report.
But the thought of teaching music appreciation is daunting and overwhelming to me. First I would need to figure out what to even teach. Then, even after I figured out what I wanted to teach… at each.child’s.level, I’m pretty sure it would not be in a way that didn’t cause the all-too-well-known eye-roll and groan every-time I told them it was time for “Music Appreciation”! I just KNOW it wouldn’t be a fun educational thing for them to learn OR for me to teach. Pretty sure that would NOT encourage them to WANT to learn more about music. My other option would be to buy curriculum but I have kindergarten up to high-school age children to teach. It would be difficult to find one curriculum to cover all those stages easily and it would be quite expensive to buy (not to mention time-consuming to teach) for each age level. I knew I wanted to teach music appreciation but hadn’t figured out a way that I wanted to do it yet, so it just wasn’t getting taught.
That was BEFORE I opened my email this morning! I already love Enrichment Studies because of all their curriculum making it easy to teach art (most of the time I don’t even buy anything but use their freebies!) When I saw that they had a new program that was for teaching music appreciation they had my attention! I already know their resources are excellent quality and that they’ve done all the prep work for me! No more spending hours searching for musical selections in the time period and genres of each individual composers. It is all done for me! Yea! Now that is MUSIC to a homeschool mom’s ears!
How it works:
Musical selections are linked to Youtube videos within daily emails, making the delivery and use super easy. All I have to do is open my email and gather the children!
Where can it be used?
Families can access by their smartphones, tablets, and computers with ease, and don’t need to plan or research anything. All I have to do is open my email and gather the children! Or if I wanted to, for my older children, I can even just assign that day’s link to them to do independently!
Easy! Inexpensive! No planning!
So NOW you know WHY I just HAD to share this with you! I was pretty sure I was not the only homeschool mom overwhelmed with teaching music appreciation to many ages and levels of kids in a fun, educational, inexpensive way! Plus I KNOW that all of us want our kids to excel in all of their studies so knowing that kids who study music appreciation DO excel naturally in their other studies I just had to let you know about this easy way to help all our kids! Now all we have to do is open our email to start teaching music appreciation! We can go straight from WANTING to teach music appreciation but not knowing HOW to just doing it and enjoying all that rich, beautiful music with our kids!
